Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, Footynaija.com reports.

The Women’s Yachine Trophy is a prestigious Ballon d’Or accolade honouring the best female goalkeeper in the world.

The 24-year-old’s inclusion on the list places her alongside some of football’s most elite names, including Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, Gotham FC’s Ann-Katrin Berger, and Barcelona’s Cata Coll.

Nnadozie’s nomination is a reward for a stellar 12 months.

The former Paris FC goalie was the backbone of Nigeria’s triumphant campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Falcons clinched their 10th title in dramatic fashion, beating Morocco 3-2 in the final. Nnadozie kept four clean sheets and conceded just twice from open play, earning the Best Goalkeeper award at the tournament.

At club level, Nnadozie helped Paris FC secure the Coupe de France Féminine, playing a pivotal role in their penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain, and guided the team into the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stages. Her performances were so commanding she was named the 2024 UNFP Goalkeeper of the Season, becoming the first African to receive the honour.

In June, she made history by signing for Brighton & Hove Albion, becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper to join a Women’s Super League club.

Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has also been nominated for the Best Women’s Coach award at the Ballon d’Or, making history as Nigeria’s first.

The 2025 Yachine Trophy winner will be announced in Paris in September.
