Bundesliga giants join race for highly rated Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi

One of the biggest clubs in the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund, have reportedly entered the race to sign Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi as the Nigerian midfielder edges closer to an exit from Leicester City, Footynaija.com reports.

Ndidi has been one of Europe’s most reliable midfield anchors during his time at Leicester City. However, following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League, the combative midfielder’s future at the King Power Stadium looks increasingly uncertain.

It emerged earlier this summer that the 28-year-old has a relegation release clause in his contract, allowing him to leave for as little as £9 million.

This revelation has sparked widespread interest across Europe, with clubs such as Everton, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis previously linked with the former Genk man.

Now, according to Africa Foot, Dortmund have joined the hunt for Ndidi’s signature ahead of the 25/26 season. The eight-time Bundesliga champions are reportedly keen on bolstering their midfield options as they look to assemble a squad capable of challenging Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the German top flight.

Dortmund are said to have tabled a five-year deal for the Nigerian international and are prepared to pay £10 million to secure his services. However, Leicester are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to £12 million as they look to maximise their profit from one of their most prized assets.

The coming days could prove decisive as Dortmund look to fend off competition from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, who have also made enquiries about Ndidi’s availability. With his experience and tenacity, Ndidi could prove a shrewd addition for any side aiming for domestic and European success.
