Galatasaray president downplays financial concerns over pursuit of Super Eagles’ Victor Osimhen

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has dismissed concerns over the potential cost outlay of a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and the consequent impact on the club’s financial position, Footynaija.com reports.

The Turkish champions are reportedly in advanced talks to sign the Nigeria international on a permanent basis this summer after a sensational season-long loan spell with the Lions saw him deliver the Super Lig and Turkish Cup crowns to RAMS Park during the 24/25 season.

Two major talking points when it comes to Osimhen’s future this summer has been the player’s release clause and salary demands. Napoli are demanding €75 million for the Super Eagles striker and the player reportedly has steep wage demands.

Before now, the prolific marksman was widely tipped to secure a move to one of top teams in Europe’s top five leagues but it appears that the financial requirements of any potential deal have forced his suitors to keep their distance.

For Galatasaray though, they remain undeterred, having confirmed their willingness to match Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen. The Turkish champions have also agreed personal terms with the striker who will reportedly earn over €300, 000 in weekly wages on a three-year deal, raising concerns over the long term consequences of such an outlay on the club’s finances.

However, Ozbek has downplayed any such concerns, revealing during a chat with Radyospor that there is no cause for alarm:“Everything is progressing normally at Galatasaray,” he said in quotes revealed by habersarikirmizi.

“We have never taken any action that would put Galatasaray in financial difficulty, and we will not do so. This situation also applies to Osimhen’s possible transfer.”

Galatasaray are reportedly proposing to spread their payment for Osimhen’s acquisition over five installments but Napoli have yet to consent to that plan. The coming days should bring a resolution for all parties involved.
