Leeds United are preparing a push for Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika as they continue their plans to avoid an immediate return to the Championship, Footynaija.com reports.

The 24-year-old Nigerian, who currently stars for Club Brugge in Belgium, is being strongly considered by the Elland Road outfit as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the 2025–26 Premier League season.

Onyedika has built a solid reputation in Europe over the last two years. He played 52 matches in all competitions last season, scoring twice while helping Brugge secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

Leeds, who have already secured the signing of Germany-born striker Lukas Nmecha from Wolfsburg, are not stopping there. The decision to pursue Onyedika is part of the mission to reshape the core of his team, and it comes as no surprise given the midfielder’s profile and Premier League-ready attributes.

As revealed This Day Live, Leeds have joined West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Nigerian. Onyedika is reportedly valued at around £25.6 million.

The report also states that West Ham see Onyedika as a potential replacement for Tomáš Souček, while Tottenham are monitoring him as part of their midfield restructuring.

Onyedika’s experience in Belgium and the Champions League, combined with his international exposure with Nigeria, has made him one of the most watched African midfielders in the summer transfer market.

Leeds are aware of the challenge ahead. Over the last two Premier League seasons, all three promoted teams have been relegated at the first attempt. That trend has forced Leeds into early and aggressive planning.

Bringing in Onyedika would give the team a strong, energetic presence in the middle of the park — someone who can offer balance alongside more creative options and shield the backline.

The former FC Midtjylland man still has two years left on his deal with Club Brugge, but the Belgian club are believed to be open to selling him this summer if a suitable offer arrives.
