Nigerian striker Moses Ebiye is set to leave Scottish Premiership club Motherwell this summer following the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to a short spell in the United Kingdom, Footynaija.com reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Scottish side in March 2024 after leaving Aalesund in Norway. He was handed a deal that ran until the end of the 2024–25 season.

Despite making an instant impression with his debut goal against Dundee and becoming popular among fans for scoring late match-winners, the club has now confirmed that he will not be offered a new contract.

Ebiye made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Steelmen, scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist. The highlights of his strikes include stoppage-time winners against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock, which quickly earned him a reputation as a ‘super-sub’ at Fir Park.

His efforts, however, were not enough to secure an extended stay, as the club opted not to open fresh talks before the end of the season.

According to a report by Glasgow World, Motherwell confirmed Ebiye’s departure in their summer retained list, which also included the exits of Harry Paton, Steve Seddon, and Davor Zdarakovski.

The list highlighted that Ebiye’s deal would not be renewed following the club’s decision to move in a new direction ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Ebiye had previously played for Akwa United in Nigeria before moving abroad, where he featured for Lillestrøm, Strømmen, Tromsø, HamKam and Aalesund across several seasons in Norway.

He leaves Motherwell as a free agent and could be open to offers across Europe or even a potential return to Scandinavia, where he still holds a decent goal-scoring record.
