Two of Belgium’s biggest clubs, Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht, are reportedly leading the race to sign promising Legia Warsaw midfielder Maxi Oyedele, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Footynaija.com reports.

The 20-year-old, who was born in Salford to a Polish mother and Nigerian father, has enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough season in Poland after joining Legia from Manchester United last summer.

His performances, particularly during Legia’s impressive run to the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-finals—where they were eventually knocked out by Chelsea—have caught the attention of several top European clubs.

Romano reports that Brugge and Anderlecht are both keen on Oyedele, with PSV Eindhoven, Werder Bremen, and two unnamed English Championship sides also monitoring the situation. A release clause of €6 million makes the midfielder an attractive option, while Manchester United stand to gain 40% of any future sale due to a sell-on clause.

Club Brugge are preparing for possible midfield departures this summer, including Raphael Onyedika and Casper Nielsen, and view Oyedele as a potential replacement. Anderlecht, meanwhile, have already added Cédric Hatenboer to their midfield ranks and remain active in the market.

Oyedele rose through Manchester United’s youth system after joining from Burnley at the age of eight. He won the FA Youth Cup in 2022 and gained senior experience through loan spells at Altrincham and Forest Green Rovers before permanently moving to Legia in August 2024.

He has represented Poland at every youth level and earned a surprise senior debut in October 2024, starting against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League.
