Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has fired a confident warning to Jamaica ahead of Saturday’s 2025 Unity Cup final, declaring: ‘We want to win’, Footynaija.com reports.

Chelle’s men secured a commanding 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Ghana at London’s Gtech Community Stadium, booking their place in the final despite missing key stars such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi.

Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring with his third international goal for Nigeria before an own goal sealed the win, giving the Super Eagles their 14th senior-level triumph over the Black Stars.

The result was even more impressive given Chelle handed international debuts to four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players, along with Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu. The experimental side impressed, especially in the first half of the clash, with their discipline and flair, reinforcing Nigeria’s depth and resilience.

Up next, Nigeria face a confident Jamaican side that edged Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in a dramatic semi-final, sealed by a stoppage-time penalty. The final kicks off at 5pm on Saturday, with Ghana set to play the Soca Warriors in the third-place match at 12:30pm.

Despite acknowledging the strength of the Reggae Boyz, Chelle is focused on finishing the job.

“We just played one game,” Chelle said at the post-match press conference.

“We will try to prepare for the second game. We are in the final, we want to win. But the reality is that Jamaica is a great team, with a great staff, and with great players. It will be a great game again. So we will focus on maybe two or three training sessions and we will see after.”

This will be the seventh meeting between the two nations. Nigeria holds the edge, with two wins, three draws, and one defeat.
