Crystal Palace and Everton are reportedly interested in securing the services of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi this summer, as both Premier League clubs seek to bolster their midfield options ahead of the 2025/26 season, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian international is being closely monitored by the two clubs, with his £9 million release clause seen as an attractive proposition, according to TBR Football.

Ndidi, 28, is entering the final stretch of his contract at the King Power Stadium and is unlikely to want to continue in the Championship, following Leicester’s relegation.

The defensive midfielder boasts significant international experience, having helped Nigeria win bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and silver at the 2023 edition.

Known for his tackling, interceptions, and ability to shield the back four, Ndidi could provide crucial stability and balance to either side.

For Crystal Palace, who are keen to reinforce their central midfield with more steel and experience, Ndidi presents a smart, cost-effective solution. His presence could allow more creative players such as Eberechi Eze to operate further forward with freedom, knowing there’s a strong defensive anchor behind them.

Everton, meanwhile, are preparing for the possible departure of Abdoulaye Doucouré, whose contract expires in the summer. Ndidi, already well-versed in Premier League football, would represent a ready-made replacement.

There are also interest in the midfielder from France and Spain, with Real Betis particularly keen.

With Ndidi still in his prime and available at a modest fee, a move for the Nigerian could prove to be one of the smartest bits of business in the summer window.

A bidding battle could be on the cards in the coming weeks, with interested clubs aware of the value and quality Ndidi would bring to their midfield.
