In this feature, Footynaija.com brings you everything you need to know about the fast-rising Nigerian striker who looks ready to lead the line for both club and country in the coming years.
Biography

Hafiz Umar Ibrahim was born on December 20, 2005, and grew up in the city of Kano in northern Nigeria. To support his family, he helped out by selling watermelons in the market.
He began his football career with Lagos-based amateur club Ojodu City FC, where his natural goalscoring instinct and raw attacking qualities quickly stood out.
In February 2024, Hafiz announced himself on the international scene by finishing as the top scorer at the prestigious Torneo di Viareggio in Italy, a tournament known for showcasing future stars.
That performance attracted interest from big European sides. He went on trial at Premier League club Chelsea in the summer of 2024 and impressed massively, scoring a hat-trick in his final match with the club’s under-19s.
However, a permanent move did not happen as Chelsea were unwilling to meet the £500,000 fee demanded by Ojodu City FC. Before his trial with Chelsea, Hafiz had also rejected an offer from Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt after receiving advice from Raheem Sterling.
On August 31, 2024, Hafiz signed a four-year deal with Stade de Reims in France. His first-team debut came on December 22, 2024, in a Coupe de France clash against Mutzig, and he made his Ligue 1 debut on February 21, 2025, coming off the bench in a match against Rennes.
On April 2, 2025, he made his first start for Reims in the Coupe de France semi-final against Cannes, scoring a goal and providing an assist in a 2–1 win that pushed Reims into the final.
While he is yet to make his Super Eagles debut, Hafiz Umar Ibrahim is a player on the rise and one to watch closely as he continues his journey in France.
