Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen uncharacteristically failed to find his scoring boots in Galatasaray’s crucial 2-0 Super Lig triumph over Bodrum FK on Friday, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen and Galatasaray went into the matchday 30 fixture as leaders of the Turkish Super Lig. Although, their narrow three points cushion at the top of the league standings meant that any result other than a win could open the way for their nearest rivals Fenerbahce to overtake them at the summit.
Former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira fired Gala into the lead with 29 minutes of first half football played after rising highest to head home Gabriel Sara’s cross, following a set-piece. Central defender Davinson Sanchez then added a second – another header – in the final ten minutes to put the game to bed.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, who has enjoyed scintillating goal-scoring form all through this season, could not get his name on the score sheet despite his best efforts. The Nigerian marksman was his usual lively and dangerous self in the final third but just ended up lacking that golden touch throughout the game.

In 86 minutes, he recorded 10 shots (3 on target), 15 touches inside the opposition box, a 67% dribbling accuracy, three passes into the final third and four missed big chances. All in all, an eventful day at the office for the Nigeria international but he just could not add to his 21 goal tally for the Super Lig campaign.
With this win, Gala extend their lead at the summit to six points, at least until arch rivals Fenerbahce take to the pitch for their own matchday 30 clash with strugglers Kayserispor on Sunday.
