Biography

Moses Daddy-Ajala Simon was born on July 12, 1995, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Though originally from the Idoma ethnic group in Benue State, he grew up in northern Nigeria, where he began playing football at a young age.

Simon’s big break came when he was recruited into the renowned GBS Academy in Jos. This was the same academy that produced stars like Ahmed Musa. His outstanding displays at youth level caught international attention, and in 2013, he earned a spot at Ajax’s youth setup in the Netherlands.

In January 2014, he signed with AS Trenčín in Slovakia, where he quickly made headlines with his speed and goalscoring. His performances earned him a move to Belgian giants KAA Gent in 2015.

At Gent, Simon made a strong impression in both the Belgian league and the UEFA Champions League, where his threat from the wing and his ability to score and assist became obvious.

Moses Simon made his Super Eagles debut in March 2015 in a friendly against Uganda. He gradually became a regular in the squad and featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third. He was also part of the team at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, where he was one of Nigeria’s top performers.

In 2018, he joined Spanish side Levante but did not get much game time, which led to a loan move to FC Nantes in France in 2019. That switch proved to be a turning point in his career.

After impressing on loan, the move was made permanent in 2020. At Nantes, Simon has become a key player, winning the Coupe de France in 2022 and consistently delivering goals and assists from the flanks.

Now a senior figure in the Super Eagles squad under coach Eric Chelle, Simon continues to be a dependable option with 78 caps for Nigeria.

Career Stats

Moses Simon has built a steady and hardworking career across Europe, earning praise for his speed, dribbling, and ability to create chances in different leagues.

AS Trenčín – 38 appearances (17G, 10A)

KAA Gent – 136 appearances (21G, 16A)

Levante – 23 appearances (1G, 1A)

Nantes – 195 appearances (36G, 41A)

Nigeria – 78 appearances (9G, 15A)

Current Stats

Moses Simon has made 26 appearances for Nantes this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 9 assists. The winger has been one of the standout performers for the French side and will be aiming to maintain his fine form as the campaign heads into its final stretch.

Salary

According to Capology, Moses Simon is earning an estimated base salary of €2,400,000 for the 2024–2025 season, that is, about €46,154 per week, excluding bonuses.

His contract with Nantes runs until June 30, 2026.

Net Worth and Market Value

According to Transfermarkt, Moses Simon’s market value is currently €12 million. He is also reported to have a net worth of approximately £10,972,000, reflecting his successful career in Europe and his contributions both on and off the pitch.

Parents

Moses Simon comes from a disciplined background, as his father served in the Nigerian Army before retiring. He spent part of his early life growing up in the military barracks in Kaduna, which helped shape his mindset and approach to hard work.

Interestingly, his father has always called him “Daddy” — a nickname that has stuck with him ever since. In April 2024, the Super Eagles winger took a moment to honour his roots by treating both of his parents to their very first trip outside Nigeria. He flew them to Paris, where they shared special family moments and enjoyed the sights of the French capital.

Wife and Kids

Moses Simon has been married to his longtime partner, Ibukun Sarah Adenuga, since 2015. Their relationship started long before his rise to the top, and the couple has kept things steady and private over the years.

In January 2025, the Super Eagles winger welcomed a baby boy, their third child, as he and his wife expanded their family to five. The couple already had two daughters, and the arrival of their son was met with joy and celebration.

Moses Simon has never hidden his love and respect for his wife. In one of his social media posts, he praised her strength, saying, “Thanks, my Queen, for this marvellous gift to our family. You are indeed a strong woman, and I am always proud of you.”

Moses Simon Transfer News

Moses Simon could be on the move this summer, with fresh transfer talks heating up around the Super Eagles winger. Even though his contract with Nantes runs until June 2026, the French club might look to cash in now rather than risk losing him for free later on.

According to reports, Serie A side AS Roma are keeping tabs on Simon, eyeing him as a potential addition to their squad.

Simon has been a standout figure for Nantes in recent seasons, but there are growing concerns at the club about over-reliance on him. His pace, dribbling, and goal contributions have made him one of their most trusted players, but that same influence could now lead to a major move.

With the summer window just around the corner, all eyes will be on where Simon lands next.
