Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up one place in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, climbing from 44th to 43rd in the world, Footynaija.com reports.
The updated rankings, released by FIFA on Thursday, are the first for 2025.
However, despite their global rise, the Super Eagles have slipped one spot in Africa, dropping to sixth place on the continent.
Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire now occupy the top five positions in African football.
Eric Chelle’s side played twice in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month. They secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali but were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
On the global stage, reigning world champions Argentina retained their No.1 ranking, extending their lead after securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Spain, France, England, and Brazil complete the top five.
