Galatasaray’s grip on the Turkish Super Lig title loosened significantly on Saturday, and the man most responsible for tightening the race was a Super Eagles star pulling on the opposition jersey, Footynaija.com reports.
Paul Onuachu opened the scoring just four minutes into the contest, heading Trabzonspor in front at Papara Park in what became a statement 2-1 victory over the league leaders.
Anthony Nwakaeme then provided the assist for Chibuike Nwaiwu to score the decisive second goal in the 63rd minute, completing a result that Nigerian players effectively orchestrated from both ends of the pitch.

In a report by Legit.ng, Nigerian football expert Toritseju Williams in his assessment, explained precisely why the absence is so damaging.
“Victor Osimhen’s absence is a clear blow for Galatasaray. He is the focal point of their attack, capable of creating chances out of nothing. Mauro Icardi is a talented player, but he doesn’t have the same mobility and ability to stretch defenses as Osimhen. That gap was evident against Trabzonspor.”
Williams added that the problem runs deeper than goals.
“The Super Eagles striker not only scores goals but also draws defenders, creating space for teammates. Without him, the team struggled to penetrate the opposition’s defensive lines. If Osimhen remains out, we may see Galatasaray drop more points, which could completely change the dynamics at the top of the league.”
