Atletico Madrid left Camp Nou on Wednesday night holding a commanding advantage after a 2-0 Champions League quarter-final first leg win over Barcelona, Footynaija.com reports.
Pau Cubarsí was sent off just before half-time for a foul on Giuliano Simeone, and Julian Alvarez converted the resulting free-kick to open the scoring.
Barcelona’s evening went from bad to worse in the second half, when Atletico substitute Marc Pubill, seemingly unaware that play had restarted from a Musso goal kick, stopped the ball with his hand inside the area. Neither the referee nor VAR acted.
Alexander Sørloth added a second to seal Atletico’s first win at Camp Nou since 2006, and Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was furious at the final whistle.
Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles forward who joined Atletico Madrid in the winter transfer window, played his part before being taken off during the second half as Diego Simeone managed his squad.
When the former African Player of the Year faced the press post-match, a journalist put a pointed question to him directly.
What Lookman Said

Asked whether he thought Pubill deserved a red card and whether Barcelona deserved a penalty, Lookman’s first response was to play for time.
“Wait, when? When did that happen?” he said, before a journalist explained the incident.
Lookman responded with a smirk. “What can I say… I don’t know,” he said, laughing.
“You know… I don’t know. I think… yeah, we take the result, you know.”
As revealed by Atletico Universe via CBS Sports Golazo, it was about as careful a non-answer as a footballer has ever given on a live microphone.
The 28-year-old knew exactly what he was doing, choosing every word with the precision of someone who understood the controversy but had zero interest in feeding it.
Atletico return to the Metropolitano for the second leg next Tuesday, taking a two-goal lead with them.
