Ademola Lookman’s move to Atletico Madrid may not be his final destination, with Inter Milan already being tipped to revive their pursuit of the Super Eagles forward when the summer window opens, Footynaija.com reports.
That is the view of Italian journalist Paolo Paganini of Rai, who does not consider another Inter approach far-fetched despite acknowledging the difficulty of prising Lookman away from Diego Simeone’s side so soon after his arrival in Madrid.
The history between Lookman and Inter is well known. The Nerazzurri had multiple bids rejected by Atalanta last summer as the Nigerian agitated for a move, publicly expressing his desire to leave Bergamo and even refusing to train at one point.

Atalanta held firm, blocking the transfer to a direct Serie A rival, and Lookman eventually found his way to Spain in January instead.
Inter, according to Paganini, have not lost interest. The stumbling block, as it was last summer, is financial. To fund a move for Lookman, the Milan club would need to generate significant funds through player sales first.
“If Inter lets Thuram go and makes a profit from the sale of Bastoni, they can bring back Ademola Lookman,” Paganini said.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried again. Thuram’s agent is currently touring Germany and England. He’s one of the players who will likely leave.”
Lookman has only just settled into life at Atletico, scoring on his debut against Real Betis and rediscovering the form that deserted him during his troubled final months in Bergamo.
Simeone will not want to lose him, and Atletico are under no financial pressure to sell.
Whether Inter can build the financial case to mount a credible offer remains to be seen. But if Paganini’s reading of the situation is accurate, the Lookman transfer saga may have at least one more chapter left in it.
