Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is enjoying life in the EFL Championship after helping his new club Coventry City secure back-to-back victories in his first couple of appearances, Footynaija.com reports.
Onyeka starred in the middle of the park for the Sky Blues as goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni ensured all three points against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Despite not registering any direct goal involvement, Onyeka’s tireless display in midfield caught the eye, earning him a well deserved Man of The Match award in his second appearance for the Premier League promotion hopefuls.
Speaking about his performance after the game, the Nigeria international chose to remain grounded, emphasizing that the most important thing is the team getting the results to show for their efforts.

“It’s really nice, I like it, we just keep going. It’s a great win away from home,” Onyeka said to Sky Sports. “I know it’s quite difficult, but it’s all about winning. I’m happy that we got the win today and also the last game.”
Explaining how Coventry City managed to overcome West Brom, Onyeka cited The Sky Blues’ defensive organization and resilience as key factors that helped keep The Baggies at bay.

“I mean, we know that especially in the first half when they tried to break us down, but we just decided to stay in the middle block. Don’t give them anything. I think that’s what helped us in the second half.”

Onyeka could not have hoped for a better start to life at Coventry City, especially after missing out on competitive action for the bulk of the first half of the season while he was at Brentford.
City maintained their place atop the EFL Championship standings with that win, staying on course to secure promotion to England’s top flight division.
