Democratic Republic of Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre has vowed that his side will leave no stone unturned in their quest to vanquish the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Sunday’s CAF World Cup play-offs final, Footynaija.com reports.
DR Congo and Nigeria edged their respective semi-finals with the Leopards condemning West African heavyweights Cameroon to a 1-0 defeat while the Super Eagles subjected Gabon to a 4-1 thrashing after extra-time.
Both sides are set to lock horns in the play-offs final on Sunday, November 16 for a chance to progress into next year’s inter-confederation play-offs and Desabre has warned that his side have no plans to be pushovers against Nigeria.

“Nigeria remains the best in Africa. We know we still have room for improvement against teams ranked ahead of us in the FIFA rankings,” the DR Congo boss said in a recent interview.
“We have experienced players. What we’re putting in place hasn’t happened overnight. We’ve been working for three years to be capable and strong against teams like Cameroon and to beat teams like that. We know we’re progressing to qualify for a World Cup.
“The ultimate goal within six years is to finish in the top nine at least. We’re making progress, we’ve taken a good step today, and we’ll have a game against Nigeria to show what we’re capable of.
“It will be a different kind of match. Whatever happens, we’re going to give it our all. Against Senegal, we were five minutes away from the World Cup. We took a few steps back.”

DR Congo, last at the World Cup in 1974, are desperate to end their five-decade absence from football’s biggest tournament. The Super Eagles, with their superior quality and desire to avoid consecutive World Cup absences, will present the sternest of tests.
