The international future of Bayern Munich loanee Edna Imade has sparked a tug of war between the reigning world champions Spain and African champions Nigeria, Footynaija.com reports.
The 25-year-old Bayern Munich forward, who was born in Morocco to Nigerian parents and has lived in Spain for over two decades, remains eligible for all three nations.
Imade is currently on loan at Real Sociedad.
A second consecutive BRACE for Edna Imade, taking her goal tally to six. She has now scored in FOUR straight games!

Spain coach Sonia Bermudez personally scouted Imade during Real Sociedad’s match against Levante UD before the UEFA Women’s Nations League semifinal against Sweden but ultimately left her out of the squad due to pending paperwork.
In quotes relayed by Tele Madrid, Bermudez said:
“We’re in the process of getting her to join us; we just need to sort out some paperwork. She’s a player we want to be with Spain. We’re obviously keeping her in mind.”
Nigeria’s Madugu still hopeful but realistic
Nigeria coach Justine Madugu has also confirmed that Imade had earlier shown a desire to represent the Super Falcons, revealing that efforts by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to contact her were ongoing.
“She had an excellent season with Granada and is doing well at Real Sociedad,” Madugu told ACL Sports. “Despite our efforts, writing to her club and reaching out through players in Spain, she’s yet to make up her mind. Whatever she decides, we respect her decision.”

He added:
“I was reliably informed she was initially keen on playing for Nigeria. I just hope her reps aren’t making things difficult due to reported interest from Spain. We value her talent and would gladly give her the chance to represent her fatherland.”
The NFF will be wary of another missed opportunity after losing Vicky Lopez, the Barcelona prodigy who once considered Nigeria before pledging allegiance to Spain.
