Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi attributed Besiktas’ performance in Wednesday night’s Super Lig win over Konyaspor to hard work in training after helping the Black Eagles secure a vital 2-0 victory at the Medas Konya Buyuksehir Stadium, Footynaija.com reports.
Ndidi opened the scoring for Besiktas after rising highest to guide a tantalizing corner-kick into the back of the net. That goal opened the summer arrival’s Super Lig account and set his team on their way to a comfortable win on enemy territory.
Speaking after the game Ndidi, who was recently named vice captain of the squad, praised his teammates for their performance, attributing the display to the team’s hard work on the training ground.

“The match went as planned. We knew it would be tough. We wanted to win, and we did. That’s the important thing. We knew the opponent’s plan,” he told the club’s official website.
“We worked hard and got results. We’d worked on dead-ball arrangements in training. Everything we worked on in training paid off. This gave us momentum for the match.”
Besiktas boss Sergen Yalcin also expressed delight after watching his team reap the fruits of their training on matchday.

“Ndidi scored a fantastic goal from a set piece. We’ve been working diligently on set pieces. We were very happy with this. Winning and getting three points were crucial. Our morale has been boosted,” he said.
Besiktas have now taken five wins from their first nine Super Lig matches of the 25/26 season. This puts them in 6th place with 16 points, three points off 3rd placed Fenerbahce and nine adrift of leaders Galatasaray.
Up next for Ndidi and the Black Eagles is a trip to 12th placed Kasimpasa. Yalcin’s men will be looking to register back-to-back wins for the first time since gameweek six.
