Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka is now a free agent after abruptly ending his two-year association with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, Footynaija.com reports.
Olayinka, who joined Red Star Belgrade from Czech Republic giants Slavia Prague in the summer of 2023, produced 15 goals and 7 assists in 65 appearances across all competitions.
Announcing the development via an official club statement, the Serbian champions revealed that Olayinka initiated discussions over the termination of his contract after expressing a desire to seek opportunities elsewhere.

“Red Star Football Club informs the public that it has mutually terminated cooperation with Peter Olayinka with mutual understanding and appreciation,” the club posted on it’s official website.
“Peter expressed his desire to seek a new challenge in his career, and the club want to thank him for the professional relationship, dedication and contribution he gave to our team in the previous period.
“Crvena zvezda thanks Olayinka for everything he has done in the red and white jersey and wishes him success, health and happiness in the future.”

The ongoing season has been a frustrating one for Olayinka due to his fringe role in Belgrade. Of Red Star’s twenty matches played this season, he featured in just ten and made the starting XI only once.
The Nigeria international’s debut season in Belgrade proved to be his best at the club as he produced twelve goals and four assists to help Red Star enjoy Super League and Cup success.
His second season didn’t go according to plan as he ended up on the sidelines due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him out of contention for the majority of the campaign.
