Turkish football commentator Rasim Ozan Kutahyali has identified the UEFA Champions League as the competition where Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will need to prove himself ahead of his imminent return to Galatasaray on a permanent transfer, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen enjoyed an absolutely fantastic loan spell at RAMS Park last season, racking up 31 goals and 6 assists in 34 domestic appearances to guide The Lions to a 25th and 19th Super Lig and Turkish Cup triumph respectively.
Following that enchanting loan spell, Galatasaray have pulled out all the stops this summer to ensure their association with the prolific Nigeria international extends beyond that hugely successful 2024/2025 campaign.
Osimhen is now on the verge of a return to Istanbul and expectations are already mounting ahead of the 2025/2026 season. For Kutahyali, the Super Eagles striker’s goal-scoring exploits in the Super Lig will certainly continue but the Champions League is where the masked hitman will need to step up.

“Osimhen will score at least 30 league goals this season. He adjusted to the Turkish League last year. He needs to score at least 10 goals in the Champions League,” Kutahyali said in quotes revealed by habersarikirmizi.com.
“Galatasaray’s test this year is the Champions League. If Galatasaray doesn’t play in the Champions League in December, the stands will lose their excitement and fullness. Galatasaray must reach the quarterfinals.
“Osimhen is a superhuman player. He went through a lot of hardship in Napoli, but Galatasaray welcomed him with open arms and showed him incredible love.”

Galatasaray’s Champions League ambitions is one of the key reasons they’re going all out to secure Osimhen’s services this summer. Having all but gotten their man, The Lions will be hoping that he can deliver the goods on the biggest of stages.
