Ryan Alebiosu has officially joined English Championship side Blackburn Rovers on a permanent deal after impressing in the Scottish Premiership last season, Footynaija.com reports.
The 23-year-old right-back signed a three-year contract with the Lancashire club following a £500,000 move from Belgian side KV Kortrijk.
Alebiosu spent the second half of the 2024–25 campaign on loan at St. Mirren, where he made 13 appearances and caught the eye with his energy, strength, and forward runs. That spell helped rebuild his momentum after a quieter stint in Belgium.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Alebiosu’s physical presence and versatility were key reasons Blackburn moved to bring him in ahead of the new season.
As officially confirmed on the club’s website, the defender comes with a lot of experiences from England, Scotland, and Belgium. His unveiling, however, carried an even bigger message.

During his presentation at Ewood Park, Alebiosu was seen holding a Nigerian flag, possibly making a statement about his international preference.
The London-born defender has previously represented England at youth level, but the presence of the Nigerian flag has sparked fresh interest back home, with many fans viewing it as a sign that he is ready to commit to the Super Eagles.

Alebiosu began his career at Arsenal, joining the Gunners’ academy at the age of eight. He signed his first professional contract in 2020 and later had loan spells at Crewe Alexandra and Kilmarnock.
Now set for a fresh start in the Championship, Alebiosu has a chance to push for regular first-team football and, possibly, earn a long-awaited Nigeria call-up.
