Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey produced standout performances on Sunday to inspire Fulham to a sensational 3-2 win over title-chasing Liverpool at Craven Cottage in the Premier League, Footynaija.com reports.

Iwobi, playing in an advanced midfield role, scored one and assisted the winner in a thrilling contest that dented Liverpool’s momentum in the title race.

With 30 goals and 34 assists, Alex Iwobi is the first Nigerian to record at least 30 goals and 30 assists in Premier League history.

His Super Eagles teammate Bassey was equally influential at the back, successfully marking out Liverpool’s most dangerous attacker, Mo Salah who failed to register a single shot all game.

However, it was a disappointing afternoon for fellow Nigerians Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu, both of whom featured as Southampton slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

The loss confirmed Southampton’s relegation from the top flight on matchday 31 — the earliest ever Premier League demotion.

In Spain, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke were in action but couldn’t prevent Sevilla from falling 2-1 at home to Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Christantus Uche was the star of the weekend for Getafe, delivering two assists and playing a crucial role in a third goal during their emphatic 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

The 21-year-old now has three goals and five assists in his debut La Liga season.

A difficult man to dispossess.

In Italy, Tyronne Ebuehi made a long-awaited return from injury after 387 days on the sidelines, featuring for the final 25 minutes of Empoli’s goalless draw against Cagliari.

It was the Super Eagles defender’s first Serie A appearance of the season.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru outshone Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman in Lazio’s narrow 1-0 away win in Bergamo.

Dele-Bashiru provided the decisive assist for Gustav Isaksen’s 54th-minute winner, while Lookman, visibly frustrated, was substituted in the 74th minute — extending his goalless run to three matches.

Awkward moment in Atalanta’s 1-0 loss vs Lazio today… Ademola Lookman was accidentally substituted off the field! ‍♂️

In Belgium, the title race remains fiercely competitive.

Raphael Onyedika impressed in midfield as Club Brugge claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Antwerp.

But they still trail Tolu Arokodare’s Genk by four points, after the latter secured a 2-1 win at Anderlecht.

While Arokodare was subbed off in the 76th minute, compatriot Yira Sor made a decisive contribution off the bench, assisting Zakaria El Ouahdi’s late winner. Genk’s opener was also set up by Belgian-Nigerian prospect Noah Adedeji-Sternberg.

In the Czech Republic, Rafiu Durosinmi continued his rich vein of form by providing an assist in Viktoria Plzen’s 2-0 win over Slovacko.

Meanwhile, in South Africa, Chibuike Ohizu stole the headlines with a goal and an assist in Sekhukhune United’s 2-1 away win at Cape Town City.

The Onitsha-born forward set up the opener before scoring what proved to be the match-winner — both goals coming in a lively first half at DHL Cape Town Stadium.

And in Turkey, Bright Osayi-Samuel was impressive at right-back for Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in their 4-1 demolition of Trabzonspor. Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme featured for the visitors as a second-half substitute.
