Manchester United have reportedly been given the green light to pursue a £51m (approx. ₦106.5 billion) deal for Atalanta’s Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, as they prepare for a major summer rebuild, Footynaija.com reports.

The 27-year-old is enjoying the most prolific season of his career in Serie A, scoring 13 goals in 25 appearances and 18 in all competitions. His electric form has powered Atalanta to the brink of a top-three finish and back-to-back Champions League qualifications.

Lookman’s standout performance came in last year’s Europa League final, where he scored a stunning hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Calciomercato, Atalanta are now open to selling Lookman this summer, with a price tag of £51m set for the former Everton and RB Leipzig forward.

Atalanta will expect starting bids of over £50m for Ademola Lookman, with the Nigerian set to leave the club in the summer.

CaughtOffside claim Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring his situation, as head coach Ruben Amorim plots a squad overhaul at Old Trafford.

United are facing their worst Premier League finish in over three decades and club legend Gary Neville has urged them to sign at least five new players. With Marcus Rashford and Antony both loaned out in January, and doubts lingering over their futures, Lookman’s versatility and attacking output make him a compelling target.

Since the start of the 2022/23 season, Lookman has contributed 37 goals and 18 assists in Serie A. A return to the Premier League – following previous loan spells at Fulham and Leicester – now looks increasingly likely for the London-born Nigeria international.

For a player blessed with pace, trickery, and clinical finishing, ₦106.5 billion may represent excellent value in today’s market.
