Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will remain a Lazio player beyond this season, with the Italian club having completed his permanent signing from Turkish side Hatayspor, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian midfielder initially joined Lazio on loan last summer, with the Serie A outfit paying a €2 million loan fee.

However, the deal included an obligation to buy, which has now been triggered, according to the Laziali. Recent financial reports from the club confirm that Lazio spent €5.4 million to secure the 24-year-old’s services on a full-time basis.

Born in Lagos, Dele-Bashiru honed his skills at Manchester City’s academy before moving to Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent three seasons between 2020 and 2023. His breakthrough came in Turkey with Hatayspor, where an impressive single campaign convinced Lazio’s sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, to bring him to the Italian capital.

While Dele-Bashiru had a slow start at Lazio, he has steadily grown into Marco Baroni’s plans.

The Super Eagles midfielder has contributed five goals and two assists in 23 appearances across all competitions, justifying the club’s faith in him.

The Nigerian suffered an ankle injury during Lazio’s 0-0 draw with Venezia last month but is on track for a return. He could be back in action as soon as Thursday’s Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen, providing a timely boost for Baroni’s side.

With his future now settled, Dele-Bashiru will be looking to make a lasting impact in Serie A as Lazio push for European qualification.
