Zimbabwe midfielder Andy Rinomhota has backed the Warriors to get a result against Nigeria in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers when they rock up to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25, Footynaija.com reports.

The Warriors arrive in Uyo rooted to the bottom of group C after recording three draws and two defeats to tally three points from five games. Anything other than a win against Nigeria will effectively end their hopes of securing a World Cup ticket.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles, once in danger of fumbling their qualifying campaign, are now flying high after that 2-0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali and they will be looking to carry that momentum into Tuesday’s game against Zimbabwe.

Heading into the game in Uyo, many consider the Super Eagles as the favourites due to their superior quality and great momentum. However, Rinomhota, who plies his trade with Cardiff City in the EFL Championship has backed the Warriors to pull off a surprise.

“We’re optimistic. We got a result against Nigeria last time, even though it was technically a home game in Rwanda,” Rinomhota said in a post via X.

“That was my first game – it was a big test, and the team did well to draw.

“This time, we want to go a step further. We respect Nigeria, but not too much. We’ll try to impose ourselves. We’ve come here to get a result and keep pushing towards our goal.”

As mentioned above, Tuesday’s World Cup qualification game between Nigeria and Zimbabwe will go down at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo by 5pm.
