Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan took to social media to share his reaction after watching his former club Barcelona triumph 4-0 over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Soccernet.football reports.

In a fiercely anticipated El Clasico, Barcelona’s emphatic performance silenced their Madrid rivals, securing a commanding win that left fans and pundits alike in awe.

Following the match, Gundogan, who recently returned to Manchester City after a season with Barcelona, showed his support for his former teammates with a short but powerful message on X: “What a statement at Bernabeu … wow❤️ Forca Barca!”

The German midfielder’s reaction resonated with Barcelona fans, capturing the pride and excitement surrounding the club’s memorable display. Gundogan’s connection with Barcelona remains strong despite his return to the Premier League, as evidenced by his enthusiastic words for the Blaugrana.

Just before the game, he had wished his former teammates well, posting, “Vamos! It’s been some great results and performances recently – very happy my former teammates are doing such an amazing job so far. Tonight the big, big game, good luck & força Barça!”

Gundogan joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City in June 2023, scoring his first goal in an El Clasico just a few months later.

His strike came early in the October 28 clash, giving Barcelona a brief lead before a late comeback led by Jude Bellingham handed Real Madrid a 2-1 win.

At 33 years, Gundogan became the second-oldest player to score for Barcelona in the historic fixture, only surpassed by Sergio Agüero.

After his return to Manchester City in August 2024, Gundogan’s bond with Barcelona and its fans remains strong, as his heartfelt messages following the 4-0 win highlight his enduring pride and connection to the Catalan club.
