Ange Postecoglou preparing for “therapy” after sitting on Spurs’ Brighton capitulation

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou wants to “explode” with intensity when his squad returns from the international break, as he is looking to use the team as “therapy” after sitting on their recent loss to Brighton, Soccernet.football reports.

The Lilly Whites suffered a disappointing defeat at the Amex Stadium, letting a two-goal lead slip and ending their five-match winning streak across all competitions.

Postecoglou has made it clear he wants to express his emotions ahead of their upcoming London derby against West Ham, which will open the latest round of Premier League fixtures this weekend.

“You never know with the international [break] whether it will be good or bad, maybe for the players it was good, but I don’t like sitting on a loss. You want to get it out of your system and move on to the next challenge,” he told Optus Sport.

“There can be a tendency to over analyse, but it wasn’t a good one. That first half we played against Brighton was unbelievable – the best we have played all year – but I just didn’t like the second half and what we looked like.

“You know what international football, the game finishes and everyone goes, so the dressing room after the game is not the time to analyse. I have been sitting on it for 10 days now and I am ready to explode once they get back in the building and they will be my therapy.”

Spurs will host London rivals West Ham United when they return to Premier League action this weekend. The Hammers come into this one off the back of their first win in five games against Premier League new boys Ipswich Town.

West Ham United will be looking to build on their success against the Tractor Boys when they visit the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou’s men will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing second half display at the Amex Stadium.

All is set for a nerve-wracking encounter in north London.
