“Yes, I would” – Manchester United legend ready for sensational return with Ten Hag under pressure

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his willingness to return to Old Trafford amid mounting uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future, Soccernet.ng reports.

United’s struggles over the past 18 months have seen the Dutch manager come under increasing scrutiny, with speculation intensifying after a disappointing 1-1 Europa League draw at home to FC Twente.

Christian Eriksen’s first-half goal seemed to set United on course for victory, but a lack of finishing allowed Twente back into the game.

Sepp Lammers’ second-half equaliser left the Red Devils unable to secure all three points, further fuelling the doubts surrounding Ten Hag’s tenure.

Currently sitting eighth in the Premier League, the Dutchman has struggled to restore Manchester United’s consistency or connection with the fans.

In contrast, Solskjaer, who served as United’s manager from 2018 to 2021, remains fondly remembered by many for his ability to unite the team and supporters.

During his time at the helm, Solskjaer guided United to three consecutive top-four finishes, including a second-place Premier League finish. Though results eventually faltered, his reign is often viewed as a period of progress.

When asked about the possibility of a return, the Norwegian hinted at being open to the idea. “I don’t like to talk about other manager’s jobs, but yes,” Solskjaer told Norwegian journalist Fredrik A. Filtvedt. “Of course, I would!”

With reports emerging that Manchester United’s hierarchy is already considering replacements for Ten Hag, Solskjaer’s potential return is gaining momentum.

His past success at Old Trafford, coupled with the arrival of INEOS and its promise of structural support, could pave the way for another chapter at the club.
