Man United chief Omar Berrada reveals three-year objective to claim 14th Premier League crown

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada, has reportedly told club staff in a meeting that the objective is to win back the Premier League championship by 2028, Soccernet.football reports.

Earlier this year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the new co-owners, rejected the notion of requiring a ten-year strategy to get United back on top in English football. However, he did mention that a three-year timeline seemed more achievable.

As reported by The Athletic, this goal has now been extended another year. Berrada highlighted during an internal meeting their aspiration to capture their first Premier League trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s victorious campaign in 2012/2013. This would also align with celebrating the club’s 150th anniversary.

This plan, known as ‘Project 150,’ describes a long-term vision to re-establish the United as strong contenders and aims for PL glory by 2028, coinciding nearly perfectly with marking 150 years since the club’s founding in 1878.

Ratcliffe had previously talked about the 150th anniversary as an almost symbolic target when he initially stepped in, admitting that taking on Manchester City and Arsenal at this point was very unrealistic.

Regarding Erik ten Hag’s involvement in this project, we shall have to wait and see. The Dutchman, having faced uncertainty about his future during the summer, eventually got a contract extension for two more years, keeping him at Old Trafford until 2026.

Nevertheless, with results being rather underwhelming so far and despite public backing from the club’s higher-ups, there are understandable doubts in the air about how long the former Ajax boss can keep hold of his job at United.
