Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has downplayed speculation about Mohamed Salah leaving the club after the winger suggested that this could be his final season at Anfield, Soccernet.football reports.

Salah has established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool history since arriving Anfield from AS Roma back in 2017. The Egyptian, who was one of the stars at Old Trafford on Sunday, provided the assists for Luis Diaz’s brace before adding Liverpool’s third to guarantee a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Manchester United.

The 32-year-old had previously revealed he was keen to enjoy the final year of his contract before making a decision on his future. Following the win against United, Salah cast further doubts over his future when he told reporters that this was his ‘last year’ at the club.

In response, Slot emphasized that it’s too early for fans to start worrying about Salah’s future; “It’s a lot of ‘if’,” he told reporters.

“At this moment he is one of ours and I am really happy with him being one of ours and he played really well. I don’t talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played.

“Everything that you want to see as a manager you saw in this game. There were difficult moments for us, United started really well but then we were disallowed a goal and there was no negative reaction.

“We kept on playing, scoring three, we could have scored more, two important saves from Alisson and the work rate was incredibly well without the ball and that makes it a very positive day.”

The Dutchman could not have asked for a better start to life as Liverpool head coach. The Anfield giants head into the international break with a 100% record after recording victories against Ipswich, Brentford and Man United.
