“It’s a little different” – Germany’s Jamal Musiala describes new role under Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany

Bayern Munich’s rising star, Jamal Musiala, has embraced a new role under the club’s new head coach, Vincent Kompany, Soccernet.football reports.

The 21-year-old attacker has shared his thoughts on the Belgian manager’s influence and his evolving responsibilities on the pitch.

Musiala has quickly adapted to Kompany’s tactical approach, which demands more from him than just attacking flair.

In Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg, Musiala made his mark by scoring the opening goal in their 3-2 victory.

However, under Kompany’s leadership, Musiala is now being tasked with more than just scoring. He is increasingly involved in the build-up play, a role he is beginning to relish.

“My role is a little different,” Musiala said as per FCBInside. “Every coach has a different role for every player and knows what he brings out.

“I think in the last game against Wolfsburg, I played a little differently than normal and also picked up the balls a little deeper.”

Despite the changes, Musiala is optimistic about his new responsibilities. “I really like the role, and we have a good exchange. We will find out more and more game by game what is best for me and the team,” he added.

While Bayern’s performance against Wolfsburg had its ups and downs, Musiala remains confident in Kompany’s vision, though he acknowledges that the team needs time to fully adapt.

“With the new coach and his new ideas, we need a few games to get a really good feeling. I think we’ll find our feet quickly,” Musiala concluded.

As Bayern Munich prepares to face SC Freiburg in their second match of the season, all eyes will be on Musiala and his continued development under Kompany.

Last season, Bayern finished third in the Bundesliga, while Freiburg ended in 10th place.

Bayern’s recent form, unbeaten in their last ten matches, suggests that they will be a formidable challenge for Freiburg, a team that has historically struggled against the Bavarian giants.
