Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has given his enthusiastic endorsement of the club’s new signing, Federico Chiesa after the Reds secured the Juventus forward, Soccernet.football reports.
Gerrard, a former Liverpool captain and one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history, took to Instagram to express his excitement about the acquisition of the 26-year-old Italian international.
Gerrard’s public approval is notable, as it’s uncommon for such a revered figure to comment on a new signing before they’ve had the chance to play.
On his Instagram story, Gerrard praised the completion of the deal with happy emojis, clearly thrilled at the prospect of Chiesa joining Liverpool.
Interestingly, Chiesa had earlier expressed his admiration for Gerrard, stating that he considered the ex-Liverpool midfielder superior to both Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes, which adds an extra layer to the mutual respect between the two.
