A four-day family festival will be held in London as the city hosts the UEFA Champions League final.

German club Borussia Dortmund will face 14-time champions Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium on 1 June.

The festival will run from 30 May to 2 June across five locations, featuring performances by Faithless and Rudimental at Trafalgar Square, according to the Standard.

“I am proud that Europe’s biggest match will take place in London,” said Mayor Sadiq Khan. “And delighted that thousands of Londoners and visitors will be able to experience the thrill of this special competition through the UEFA Champions Festival.”

Festivities will begin on 30 May at Trafalgar Square, where the mayor will welcome the UEFA Champions League trophy to the capital. The square will then become a hub of family activities.

On Thursday and Friday, the festival will extend to Regent Street, which will be pedestrianised from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus. Fans can participate in activities such as penalty shootout challenges.

Somerset House will host a five-a-side tournament featuring Champions League “royalty” on Friday and Saturday. While the line-up is yet to be revealed, organisers promise it will include legends from around the world.

Potters Fields Park, next to Tower Bridge, will feature a large inflatable Champions League trophy and various activities along the South Bank.

Mayor Sadiq Khan will kick off the activities by welcoming the UEFA Champions League trophy to the capital on 30 May.

Theodore Theodoridis, UEFA general secretary, said: “We look forward to welcoming everyone to the UEFA Champions Festival, right in the heart of central London, as we celebrate the end of another fantastic football season and crown the next UEFA Champions League winner.

“Festivalgoers will enjoy a wide array of family-friendly entertainment, creating memories that will last a lifetime ahead of what is sure to be another epic encounter at the iconic Wembley Stadium.”

The Metropolitan Police have urged visitors to plan ahead, and Transport for London has advised that public transport will be very busy on 1 June, especially on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines.
