Portuguese boxer OctávioOctávio Pudivitr has called for Cristiano Ronaldo’s support ahead of his fight with Daniel Lapin on Sunday.

Octávio Pudivitr and Ukrainian Daniel Lapin will compete for the WBA Continental Light Heavyweight belt on May 18. This fight is part of the undercard for the highly anticipated heavyweight title clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo is expected to attend the Usyk-Fury fight, but Pudivitr hopes the football star arrives early to watch his bout against Lapin. Pudivitr believes Ronaldo’s presence would give him extra motivation.

Lapin, 26, is an undefeated southpaw from Ukraine, recently defeating Almir Skrijelj in February. Lapin often trains with Usyk and is seen as a rising prospect in the division. He has a record of 9 wins, 3 by knockout.

Pudivitr, 36, is a veteran boxer originally from Mozambique with a record of 9 wins, 1 loss, and 4 knockouts. He comes off a knockout victory over Juan Boada last December and is in good shape for the upcoming fight.

Speaking to DAZN as per Record, Pudivitr expressed his desire for support from Ronaldo and other Portuguese figures in Saudi Arabia.

“We have many Portuguese people in Saudi Arabia, like Rúben Neves, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jorge Jesus. And others who are Brazilian but have been in Portugal,” Pudivitr said.

“I think that this support is always important. And feeling support from Cristiano Ronaldo, Jorge Jesus, or anyone else who is Portuguese is important.

“It’s very important and I think it galvanizes us even more. It gives us that extra morale. I think Cristiano Ronaldo will be there. As for the rest of the people, I don’t know. But I wouldn’t mind at all and it would be very gratifying for me, because I’m a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, if he came to give extra support.”

Ronaldo, considered one of the greatest goal scorers in football history, is a major figure in Portuguese sports.
