Poland national team head Michal Probierz has criticized Barcelona for their handling of Robert Lewandowski this season, Soccernet.football reports.

Lewandowski’s future has been the subject of much speculation, but he currently has no plans to leave Barcelona this summer. However, his national team manager sees this as problematic.

Probierz, who became Poland’s head coach last September, expressed his disappointment about how the 35-year-old striker has been treated by the Spanish club.

“Robert is Barcelona’s top scorer, and it has to be said that the team has not helped him,” Probierz told TVP Sport.

“He is often in a good shooting position, but the ball never reached him. In the last game (vs Rayo Vallecano), when he received the cross, he scored a goal – very nice, by the way.

“Barcelona were in disastrous form. Robert was the player who tried to lift the team, but there was a moment when they fell out of the fight for titles and the team’s morale dropped.”

Lewandowski’s form has improved in the latter part of the season, but he has still been below his best. Although a departure from Barcelona seems unlikely, it cannot be completely ruled out.

Barcelona lost their La Liga title to Real Madrid this season but managed to finish second, ahead of Girona and Atletico Madrid.

Despite Barcelona’s impressive end to the campaign, coach Xavi’s future at the club remains uncertain despite earlier assurances he would stay. However, this situation is unrelated to Lewandowski’s plans to fulfill his contract with the club.
