The Brazil Football Federation has announced a 23-man squad for their Copa America campaign in the United States, Soccernet.football reports.

Brazil coach Dorival Júnior has called up three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and seven forwards as the Seleção look to reclaim the trophy they last won in 2019.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will battle Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson for the number one gloves.

Arsenal duo of Gabriel Magalhães and Gabriel Martinelli make the cut. At the same time, Real Madrid defender Éder Militão returns from injury just in time to join club teammates Rodrygo Goes and Vinícius Júnior in the selection.

Girona FC’s excellent campaign in La Liga this term has favoured Yan Couto and Savinho, who are included in the squad.

Palmeiras youngster Endrick is on his way to his debut Copa America, to be joined by Barcelona’s Raphinha and Atlético Mineiro’s Guilherme Arana.

Interestingly, former Barcelona and PSG Neymar, who helped Brazil finish as runners-up at the 2021 edition of the tournament, is not in the squad. Neymar is recovering from a serious injury after he suffered a tear in his cruciate ligament and a meniscus in his left knee.

Barcelona striker Vitor Roque and Manchester United midfielder Casemiro were also not summoned by coach Júnior.

Brazil have two international friendlies scheduled against Mexico and the United States before the Copa America kicks off on June 20.

The Canarinha are nine-time winners of the Copa America, but they have not lifted the trophy since 2019.

Brazil’s list for the Copa América:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool, ENG), Bento (Athletico Paranaense), and Ederson (Manchester City, ENG).

Defenders: Danilo (Juventus, ITA), Yan Couto (Girona, ESP), Guilherme Arana (Atlético Mineiro), Wendell (Porto, POR), Beraldo (PSG, FRA), Éder Militão (Real Madrid, ESP), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal, ENG) and Marquinhos (PSG, FRA).

Midfielders: Andreas Pereira (Fulham, ENG), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle, ENG), Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa, ENG), João Gomes (Wolverhampton, ENG) and Lucas Paqueta (West Ham, ENG).

Forwards: Endrick (Palmeiras), Evanilson (Porto, POR), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal, ENG), Raphinha (Barcelona, ESP), Rodrygo Goes (Real Madrid, ESP), Savinho (Girona, ESP) and Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid, ESP).
