Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has emerged as a prime target for Barcelona as they gear up for a major overhaul at the Nou Camp, Soccernet.football reports.

With the impending departure of superstar Robert Lewandowski, who faces the axe in a looming mass exodus, the cash-strapped LaLiga outfit is poised for a seismic summer shake-up.

Barcelona, shackled by LaLiga’s budget constraints with a salary cap reduced to a mere £174 million, find themselves compelled to offload their highest earners to fuel their ambitious reconstruction plans.

The Polish hitman Lewandowski could be on his way out of Camp Nou as he is the highest earner for a club that faces a massive wage bill of £27 million next season.

Enter Darwin Nunez, a name synonymous with Liverpool but now a tempting prospect for Barcelona, according to The Sun.

Despite being among the Reds’ top earners, Nunez’s wage demands pale compared to Lewandowski’s, making him an attractive proposition for the financially-strained Spanish outfit.

Nunez, Liverpool’s record signing at £85 million from Benfica just two years ago with a contract stretching till 2028, embodies both talent and potential, qualities that have made him indispensable to Liverpool’s plans.

While content at Anfield, the reports suggest a latent allure towards donning the iconic Blaugrana jersey, a desire fostered since Barcelona’s failed pursuit of him from Almeria three years back.

Having dazzled in Portugal before becoming a Merseyside sensation, Nunez’s recent goal drought, spanning seven games, has raised eyebrows.

Despite notching 23 goals this season, his profligacy in front of goal, notably against Luton, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace, has been a cause for concern.

With Liverpool poised for a managerial overhaul, the prospect of a revamped attacking lineup looms.

Muhammed Kudus from West Ham United and Victor Osimhen from Napoli are already touted as potential replacements for Nunez, hinting at a seismic shift in Liverpool’s attacking arsenal.
